Welcome!

We are RockOUT, the LGBTQ+ group at the Rockefeller University. Our board has recently turned over almost entirely, as previous members have graduated or moved on to new positions at other institutions. As we rebuild and restructure, we welcome any suggestions, input, and engagement.

Much of the information on this website is therefore out-of-date. We apologize for the inconvenience while we work on updating it.

- RockOUT Board

RockOUT (formerly PRISM) was founded by five Rockefeller trainees in 2015. The Rockefeller University is home to many LGBTQ+ scientists, staff, and administrators. RockOUT's goal is to foster community by supporting and affirming the experiences of our LGBTQ+ colleagues at Rockefeller. 

RockOUT is a registered chapter Of oSTEM (Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Code of conduct:

RockOUT seeks to create and maintain a safe and diverse space where respect and comfort are our first priorities. We encourage attendees of all of our events to use other attendees’ preferred pronouns and names and discourage outing. Please be aware that disclosure of one’s sexual and/or gender identity is not an invitation to ask that person invasive questions about sex or anatomy. Harassment of any kind (unwanted contact, verbal or physical abuse, racism, homophobia, transphobia, body-shaming, misogyny, etc.) will not be tolerated.  If you have suggestions for how we can make our events more inclusive/respectful/comfortable, please let us know.
