NYC Pride: Happy Hour on June 22 and March on June 24

The March will take place on June 24, and PRISM is taking the lead in organizing a walking group of scientists under the banner of the national nonprofit organization oSTEM (Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), together with colleagues from NYC-area universities and institutes.

Our check-in time on Sunday, June 24, at the March is 5:00pm on W 17th St between 8th and 9th Ave. Friends, family, and allies are welcome. Our group size is capped at 50. As of Monday, June 18, we are at capacity. If you are interested in marching, please still sign up. We may have cancellations and/or be able to acquire additional wristbands from the Pride organizers. We will be in touch with you soon.

We will have a meet-and-greet and happy hour on Friday, June 22, at 5:00pm at the RU Faculty club co-hosted with Columbia University’s qSTEM with free drinks and pizza. Please register here so we know how much pizza to order. Guests from all institutions are welcome, even if they are not marching on Sunday.

Day of discussion and talks with science policy expert Kei Koizumi

The recent March for Science highlighted the increasing concern over the disconnect between scientific support and policy makers in government. It is becoming very clear that failing to bridge this gap can have far-reaching effects on several sectors such as research funding, healthcare, innovation, environmental sustainability, and many others.

PRISM and SEPA are excited to welcome Kei Koizumi, former Assistant Director for Federal R&D and Senior Advisor to the Director for the NSTC under President Obama, to the Tri-I community for a day of discussions and talks.

Mr. Koizumi's visit will comprise multiple events. We hope you can join us for all of them!

11:00 am: Live podcast interview with Science Soapbox

Please email sciencesoapbox@gmail.com to register

1:30 pm in Caspary Auditorium: Mr. Koizumi's talk titled "Policy for Science, Science for Policy, and Science for All: Lessons Learned at the Obama White House, or Why I Keep Marching"
