PRISM (People at Rockefeller Identifying as Sexual/Gender Minorities) was founded by five Rockefeller trainees in 2015. The Rockefeller University is home to many LGBTQ+ scientists, staff, and administrators. PRISM's goal is to foster community by supporting and affirming the experiences of our LGBTQ+ colleagues at Rockefeller.
PRISM is a registered chapter of oSTEM (Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
Code of conduct:
PRISM seeks to create and maintain a safe and diverse space where respect and comfort are our first priorities. We encourage attendees of all of our events to use other attendees’ preferred pronouns and names and discourage outing. Please be aware that disclosure of one’s sexual and/or gender identity is not an invitation to ask that person invasive questions about sex or anatomy. Harassment of any kind (unwanted contact, verbal or physical abuse, racism, homophobia, transphobia, body-shaming, misogyny, etc.) will not be tolerated. If you have suggestions for how we can make our events more inclusive/respectful/comfortable, please let us know.
